One of the most difficult things for a web developer, apart from solving problems using code, is to have a design that looks decent. I know you will ask, Why do I need to lean design if I am a developer? Well, my answerer will be that the first glance matter, so your app will be more interesting at a first glance if you have a decent design. If I have to tell you how, these are few things you can use to improve your web design like; colours, typography, and balance.

There is the psychology of colours, colours could trigger behaviours and emotions. For example, warm colours could evoke emotions going from a feeling of warmth and comfort to anger and hostility.

Colours that range on the blue side as known cool colours could evoke calm but also sadness.

To help you choose a color, I recommend using the color adobe platform. You can go to the explore part of the site and look for a topic that you like, for example, tech, and it will show you a wide range of options and patterns that can help in your page.

Another thing that can improve your page is to use good contrast, for example, try to highlight your text with opposite colours combining lightness in the background and text to make it more readable. There is an excellent article that can help you improve that part.

The last thing that can help in your design is white space or negative space. The negative space is the space surrounding your elements. You can find white spaces around logos, images, typography and blocks of elements.

To improve the negative space in your page, you can try to give more space to your text for readability, like increasing the size of a topic that you want to highlight and give more margin and padding to make the text breathe, remember the important thing here is to make the user comfortable in your app.

In conclusion, I can say that if you used the little tips that I give you, your app will improve, the users will be please navigating your site. If you want to explore more and improve your design abilities, there are a few YouTube channels and books that will help you in your design like DesignCourse by Gary Simon, The Principles of Beautiful Web Design by Jason Beaird and James George.
